I think that it is very important for the government to take charge when it comes to conserving the cultural diversity in Costa Rica. I believe that it is more appealing to travel to countries that are very culturally diverse, so why wouldn’t the government want to protect that aspect? The different cultures, languages, and ways of life are what draw people to countries, and the government can play a key role in maintaining that appeal to people. With the government protecting the cultural diversity they can also fund events for cultural rituals that help preserve the native dances, traditions, clothing, and languages of Costa Rica. By doing these things the country is able to show acceptance to all of the different traditions and rituals that are practices throughout Costa Rica, and help keep all of the languages spoken and intact.
The Costa Rican government represents the citizens, with this being said they are focusing on what the people of the country want. With all of the different people and nationalities that live in Costa Rica, they all want to have their culture preserved. If the government follows through with this and keeps all of the cultural diversities intact then all citizens will be able to remain true to their culture and not have to change who they are to be the same as the majorities. In Costa Rica the government is involved to an extent when it comes to protecting cultural diversity, they do not always fund everything because sometimes they see it as a waste of government money, the people who’s culture they are not protecting then wish that the government was not involved in protecting their culture because it is not being done, at least not the amount that they think it should be. I think that each different ethnicity should be awarded a certain amount of money based on the population of their culture in Costa Rica, given by the government. This way they could preserve their culture and keep the country diverse, and a spot where tourists would want to visit, thus bringing in more revenue for the country. Some people might disagree with my belief that the Costa Rica government should provide funding to protect cultural diversity throughout the country because they may think that it is a waste of government spending. People may think that the spending would be taking away from issues such as education, or other issues that they see more important than cultural diversity. People may also believe that if the government is spending money on this then they are able to control aspects of people’s lives by controlling their culture. I believe that a more diverse country will attract more people and make it a place where tourists want to go, thus making more money in the country.
